AV/HV is a two-component epoxy resin adhesive for bonding etched PTFE, metals, ceramics, vulcanized rubber etc. with the same material or with any of the specified materials.
Good mechanical strength properties under static and dynamic stress and good resistance to heat up to +120°C. Excellent resistance to chemicals and tropical conditions, electrical insulation, joint filler, causes no corrosion, cold-setting to thermosetting (+ 5 to 100°C).
Construct joints suitable for bonding. Plug-type and overlapping connections are ideal. The best stability is achieved with glue lines of 0.05 – 0.15 mm thickness. Fit the joints accurately before gluing. Clean areas to be glued carefully with degreasing agent such as stabilized 1,1,1-trichloroethane, acetone. Alcohol, benzene and varnish thinners are unsuited. The best adhesive strength is achieved by mechanical roughing and subsequent degreasing or by chemical pretreatment. Observe the mixing ratio of resin and hardener (10:4) as accurately as possible. Mix until resin and hardener are distributed homogeneously. Use only clean vessels, such as glasses, containers of polyethylene, or disposable paper cups made of nonparaffin-coated cardboard. The usable life for a quantity of 100 g is approx. 30 minutes at +23°C (can be extended by cooling). For an average layer thickness, approx. 300 g of the resin/hardener mixture are required per m2 of adhesive surface. Apply the adhesive sparingly to both joints using a putty knife or brush with short bristles. Application to one side is enough for small, smooth surfaces. The joints should only be fixed by contact pressure, not pressed together with force. Good mechanical strength is achieved between 40° and 100°C.
Hardening temperature in +°C | 5 | 15 | 23 | 40 | 80 | 100 |
Minimum hardening time | 3 days | 14h | 8h | 2h | 15min | 10min |
AV/HV adhesive-bonded joints can only be detached by intensive heating (heat to +180°C and separate with force) or soaking for several days in a strong solvent (dimethylformamide or methylene chloride), if the bonded materials withstand such treatment.
Tools are cleaned with warm water containing soft soap before hardening of the adhesive. Resin and hardener can be stored for approx. 1 year at 18-25°C when closed tightly.
